LINDA HEIMER WATERLOO --- As an educator, I really want to focus the subject of education in this year's Black Hawk County sheriff's race. Tony Thompson, is saying very little about having a bachelor's degree from UNI, having started his master's degree in public administration, and having taught in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts at UNI as an adjunct professor for several years. I understand that Tony Thompson is also currently teaching law enforcement lessons for the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, for the Iowa State Sheriffs and Deputies Association's --- State Jailing School, and in the U.S. Army, teaching leadership to the future commanders of soldiers going to war, in Officer Candidate School. It seems to me, that the educational background, the teaching background and the ability to take these battle tested lessons to the extreme is just what this county needs. Tony Thompson is going to be our next sheriff, and I love the sound of that. Finally, I appreciate his efforts in drug enforcement and his point of view that through increased enforcement and attention to this genre of crime, that all crime can be positively affected. I also think that Deputy Tony Thompson has his priorities straight, his plan for the future of the sheriff's office secure; and his forethought for where he intends to take the sheriff's office is clearly laid out. Please join me and cast your vote for Tony Thompson for Black Hawk County Sheriff. I plan on supporting Tony Thompson 100 percent for Black Hawk County sheriff.
