| Flood victims ignored Thu, 24 Jul 2008 12:02:48 -0500 PAM DAVIDSON WATERLOO --- In recent articles about the floods in the Lafayette Park area, I'm sorry but the city officials basically left us in the dark and offered no help. From the beginning to the end, not even one person from the city showed up. The fire department finally showed up just to see how low the water was getting after the worst was over. When we were trying to sandbag our flooded home, the National Guard was just driving by and smiling, as the waves from the trucks pushed the water higher. Never in the 30 years I've lived in the area has there been any flooding that I remember. I'm sorry but the next time any city officials ask for help of any kind, don't come knocking at my door. |
