Although a lot of people consider Ronald Reagan to be a fiscal conservative, he was the first of the big deficit spenders. He was also the first president to send a trillion dollar spending budget to Congress. The biggest deficit spender of all time, though, is George W. Bush. Nearly half of our $9 trillion national debt was amassed under his administration. When he took office he inherited the largest budget surplus of all time. | Robert F. Buss (1938-2008) Thu, 10 Jul 2008 12:01:21 -0500 Buss, Robert F., lost his battle with cancer on July 4, 2008, in La Palma, CA. Bob was born Sept. 12, 1938, in Waverly, to William and LaVerna Buss. He grew up on a farm near Denver with his sister, Beverly (Hekel), and two brothers, Bill and David. Bob attended the University of Iowa where he obtained a degree in accounting. In 1961, he moved to Long Beach, Calif., where he proposed to Emily Juchniewich. Bob and Emily were married on April 28, 1962. In 1971, they moved to the city of La Palma where they resided until his death. Bob and Emily shared a love of their family, travel and books. In their 46 years together, they were able to travel extensively with family and friends, visiting Europe, South America, Australia and much of the U.S., including Alaska and Hawaii. Bob had many chances to see the world and travel during his many years as an employee for Purex. Upon his retirement from Purex, he continued to work as an accountant and bookkeeper. Bob is survived by his wife, Emily; his sons, Steve (Tracy) of Corona, Calif., Jeff of Newport Beach, Calif., and Scott (Kim) of Orange, Calif.; his siblings, Beverly (Bill) of Indianola, Bill (Pat) of Denver and David (Margarita) of Elgin, Ill.; and his brother-in-law, Michael Juchniewich of La Palma. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Tori, Morgan, Quinton, Alexis and Elle. Throughout his 69 years, Bob proved to be a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and friend. All will remember his kind spirit and thoughtfulness. He will be greatly missed. Memorial services will be held Friday, July 11, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. at Westminster Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in his name to the American Heart Association. |
