My best friend's son is two months younger and she's constantly bragging about his vocabulary. It's driving me crazy --- and it's making me worry that there might be something wrong with my child. | Iowa misrepresented Wed, 2 Jul 2008 12:07:14 -0500 REV. F. DAVID SWALLOW II CEDAR FALLS --- During the June 20th episode of the O'Reilly Factor, guest host Laura Ingraham stated that Iowans "are farmers" who "don't care about solar power." It didn't take much more than a 20 second Google search to find out that we are, in fact, one of the leading states in solar power legislation. There seems to be this notion on Fox News that wanting to preserve the land and provide domestic energy is some kind of crazy "liberal" ideal. Perhaps they don't realize that our love of the land drives us to preserve it for our children's children, and if we can do that while providing renewable energy that creates jobs and increases national security, then its a no brainer. Someone should tell Laura, in the future when you want to misrepresent a state to argue an illegitimate claim, she should choose someone else. |
| We need Obama Wed, 2 Jul 2008 12:07:14 -0500 LEE PLAEHN CEDAR FALLS --- What does Sen. McCain think the American people are, when 75 percent of us see the Iraq war as the world's greatest tragedy, while he clings to the status quo? Along with the war, we have 82 percent saying that our country is on the wrong track. We are not naive, it's time for change and Sen. Obama has shown America that he has all the qualities to lead us out of this morass. Unlike McCain, he doesn't brag about his experience and ability to handle the job of commander and chief. He only has to look at Bush's performance the last eight years and see McCain in perfect lock-step. We don't need anymore of that kind of experience. We want a president who has the intelligence and vision to revive our country and bring back all of the rights that Dick Cheney and the neo-cons took from us. Their stealing Iraq's oil is the cause of the quandary that the world is in today. If only Al Gore were president! |
