Black Hawk fans praised Fri, 6 Jun 2008 12:13:25 -0500 CAROLEE D. ROBERTS SIDNEY — As a long-time hockey fan who watched greats like Gordie Howe and Terry Sawchuck (at 17 years old) play their rookie seasons with the Omaha Knights, I want to tell all of you what a fantastic series your Black Hawks provided. From my seat at the Mid-America Center, the Omaha Lancers and the Waterloo Black Hawks played the finest, most exciting hockey there could be. And while their ear-splitting bells hurt my ears, your fans were the best we encountered. You are fortunate to be getting so many players back next year. But I’m not sure I should say good luck!
Vacuum of values Wed, 18 Jun 2008 12:08:52 -0500 Looking for bedspread MARITA SCHILLER WATERLOO --- I hope someone can help me. During a move in late September and October 2007, a hand-crochet bedspread was accidently taken to the St. Vincent de Paul store in Cedar Falls. Several plastic bags of things were taken to the store and for some reason the bag with my bedspread also was taken to the store. There will be a reward for its return.
Little girl may have puppy Wed, 18 Jun 2008 12:08:52 -0500 JONI STEEN WATERLOO --- There was a little girl with her mom in Parkersburg who had spoken to my husband and his supervisor about staying at her grandparents' house when the tornado went through. This little gal had a male German Shepherd puppy at home that died during that terrible ordeal. My husband told me the story and brought tears to my eyes. I have a friend who bought a pup from one of our litters a while back and her female is expecting any day now. (The dam and sire are both PBGS dogs). After speaking with my friend, the little girl may have (for free) one of the puppies. If anyone knows who this little girl is, or know her parents in Parkersburg, please contact me at Puppy.PBGS@yahoo.com.
Regain spending control Wed, 18 Jun 2008 12:08:55 -0500 GREGORY J. TAGTOW WATERLOO --- If the best liberals (Bill McDermott-June 3; and Bill Witt-June 2) can do is belittle the ideas and values of their opposition, they have little to offer the average voter. According to the elitists writing here, you can't hold an elected office or similar position and voice your opinion as an average citizen. With this standard, a person elected as shop steward would no longer be able to voice their opinion as a worker and can only speak for the union. Would that mean all the local Dem officers are only voicing the opinion of the DNC? Many examples show how silly your premise is.
