| Care about legal citizens first Wed, 21 May 2008 12:00:17 -0500 MERLIN BIRETZ WATERLOO --- I'm taken aback by the pity of Black Hawk County residents showing their concern and view of the inhuman treatment they say the illegal aliens are getting that were arrested in Postville. Some were charged with Social Security fraud, stolen identities to name a few. Their view is the poor children separated from their parents. How about our own American citizens who commit far less serious crimes and are incarcerated, i.e how about the women who are sentenced to the correctional facility for minor infractions or so called probation violations that are nothing more accidental or incidental and these women are separated from their children? Many are one-parent families trying to pay their room and board at the facility and trying to keep their family intact. This is not justice --- when one or two people can pass judgment on an individual and raise havoc with their lives. Where in the hell is the outcry here? The illegals knew they were disregarding our laws. Let's first protect the rights of our own legals and have less mercy for those committing real crimes. The picketers and do-gooders should be protesting downtown for the value of our good citizens. |
