| Obama a communist? Tue, 22 Apr 2008 12:25:14 -0500 DAVE SMITH WATERLOO --- Several years ago I regularly researched what the U.S. Communist Party was involved in. The Waterloo Public Library provided the USCP weekly newspaper, "The Daily World." I asked if our tax dollars were paying for the subscription but I was informed that someone donated the newspaper to the library. On several occasions I noticed that U.S. Communist Party activities, mostly informational meetings, were held in churches known as "United Church of Christ." The denomination, "United Church of Christ" is known for its "Liberation Theology." Liberation Theology fits well with what the Communist party espouses. Does Mr. Barrack Hussein Obama's 20 year affiliation with Pastor Jeremiah Wright/UCC tell us anything about his political leanings and mind set? |

| Wrong people have to pay Tue, 22 Apr 2008 12:25:14 -0500 HERMAN LENZ SUMNER --- Regarding license fees to increase on pickups. I don't see anything in the news to say license fees will increase on big rigs even though anyone doesn't have to be very smart to know that an 80,000-pound machine puts more stress and damage on roads and bridges than something that weighs 4,000 pounds. Big trucking interests are well organized, but pickup owners are not, and our lawmakers don't want that PAC money to stop. If ever able to watch in slow motion a multi-axle 5,000-pound load go over a black top pavement or gravel road and watch the area within a 10-feet radius "sink" when that load passes over. Then compare that with when a pickup or car goes over the same area. I used to haul on road construction and I've seen it. I've seen roads (that were in good condition) rapidly go to pieces when maximum axle weight loads were put on such roads at one per minute. |
